An advisor by nature, Jennifer has built her professional life around offering sound advice to clients in order to achieve specific objectives. Prior to joining Odlum Brown, Jennifer spent eight years as a practicing lawyer, counselling clients on a variety of complex and highly sensitive legal matters. During her tenure at the British Columbia Bar, Jennifer acted as both a Federal Drug Prosecutor and, later, as a constitutional and criminal law litigator. The majority of her practice was conducted in the courtroom, where she developed sharp analytical and communication skills, along with the ability to adapt confidently in a highly volatile environment. Her lively demeanour and no-nonsense approach are the hallmarks of her style.
Jennifer takes a practical, value-based and disciplined approach to investing. As the foundation of her investing strategy, she draws on Odlum Brown’s highly regarded research department to achieve long-term growth. Jennifer takes the time to establish meaningful relationships with her clients, allowing her to offer easy-to-understand, thoughtful and timely investment advice appropriate to her clients’ individual needs, time horizon and risk tolerance.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Laws, With Distinction, from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, First Class Honours, from the University of Calgary. She has also completed the Canadian Securities Course and other key investment industry courses. Jennifer considers herself to be a lifelong learner with many diverse and evolving interests.
Jennifer is a current Director of Elevation Outdoors, a not-for-profit organization that teaches troubled and underprivileged youth important life skills through outdoor pursuits. She continues to be a member of the Law Society of British Columbia (non-practicing) and the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association, as well as a past member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association.
Jennifer was born and raised in Richmond, BC, with deep family roots in the Lower Mainland going back over 100 years. She has lived in Kelowna since 1991 and enjoys all of the amenities that the Okanagan has to offer. She is a former competitive muay thai kickboxer, as well as an eternal sun seeker, wine connoisseur, fitness enthusiast and aficionado of ’90s rap music. She and her husband Andrew are the proud parents of two young daughters.
