Kevin is from North Vancouver, where he and his wife Jenna now live with their two daughters. Outside of time with his young family, Kevin and his wife love to hike, snowshoe, bike and run – though these activities depend on how hard it’s raining on the North Shore!
He attended the University of British Columbia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in general Biology in 2005. After exploring career opportunities as a science graduate, Kevin decided to switch gears and enroll in the Financial Management Program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
In 2007, Kevin began his career at Odlum Brown as an Investment Assistant to Russell Smith (retired) and John Hooper. In 2012, he began working exclusively with Russell as an Associate Portfolio Manager. Kevin achieved the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2013.

Kevin’s practice was founded on an understanding of each client's individual needs, combined with mutual trust and respect. His passion for service and client communication makes tailoring a personal financial strategy both pleasurable and rewarding.
From the onset of a client relationship, Kevin’s principle objective is to listen and learn about the person or family who has entrusted him with their money and appreciate what’s most important in their lives. By understanding each client’s aspirations for the future, he can provide personalized advice and service that offers confidence and perspective.
Kevin has the privilege of working with individuals, families, businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Along with his team, Kevin hopes to engage his clients in a way that will leave them delighted by the service they receive. He always strives to be accessible, whether by telephone, email or in person, to answer questions and review portfolios.
Kevin offers discretionary portfolio management services on a fee basis as well as investment advisory services on a transactional basis with commissions. Since 1923, Odlum Brown’s business model has centered on aligning the firm’s interests with the interests of its clients.
By working with Kevin and his team, all clients have access to Odlum Brown Financial Services Limited to develop a financial plan that will complement their investment strategy. As part of producing a comprehensive plan, Kevin welcomes the opportunity to discuss family financial security and wealth transfer.
Investing for You
Kevin is a strong advocate of Odlum Brown’s independent equity research and the fixed income expertise of Hank Cunningham; both of which are invaluable in constructing customized portfolios for each client’s individual needs.
He encourages clients to be involved in the management of their investments as much or as little as they would like to be. Investment experience is not necessarily the most important element when investment strategies are discussed. What matters most is respect for where the money comes, the effort that was made to build the wealth; and the hopes and aspirations that the wealth may offer. As part of building a unique portfolio, Kevin shows the utmost respect for his clients’ ethical and social views.
Being employee-owned means that we’re all invested in what happens here. As an independent firm that doesn’t participate in investment banking or trade for its own account, Odlum Brown is solely focused on one activity: advising individual clients on how to grow and preserve their wealth.
Kevin is proud to work with a number of organizations where they are responsible for accepting and processing donations, such as:
- St. George's School
- Vancouver Opera
- West Vancouver Presbyterian Church
- York House School
Therefore, he is also a strong proponents of the benefits of donating shares “in-kind.”
