Investment Style & Approach
Bruce and Heather have been working together since 2014. Their strengths are accredited to Bruce's vision and experience, and Heather’s keen business sense. Clients receive the individual attention and sound, proactive advice they need to achieve their investment goals.
Wealth creation and capital preservation is best accomplished with discipline. Bruce and Heather believe that a balanced approach with an emphasis on achieving long-term results works best for investors. Bruce’s ability to manage funds on a discretionary basis also appeals to many investors, as it frees the individual from the responsibility of overseeing their daily investment decisions. With over 50 years of combined industry experience, they can develop comprehensive investment strategies for your retirement and immediate financial needs, and help to preserve your wealth for the next generation.
When you invest through Bruce, you benefit from his unique combination of experience and investment wisdom. He would be pleased to arrange a meeting with you to discuss your investment needs and objectives. As Bruce likes to say, "our success is built on principles of integrity, trust, a commitment to our clients' success, and making money the old-fashioned way."
Bruce began his career in the financial industry in 1967 with the Royal Trust Co. After nine years, he left his position as Senior Trust Officer to join Odlum Brown as an Investment Advisor. His hard-earned success as an Investment Advisor led to his appointment as Branch Manager of the Victoria office in 1982. He is currently a Director, Vice President, Portfolio Manager and a member of the executive committee of the firm.
Bruce continues to remain active within the community. His interest in rugby led him to be a member and former director of the James Bay Athletic Association and a past President of the Canadian Rugby Foundation.
As a past board member of the Queen Alexandra Hospital Society, The Salvation Army Advisory Committee and the Lodge at Broadmead, Bruce proudly dedicates his time and financial support to charitable endeavours in the Greater Victoria Region. He is the current president of the Charlton L. Smith Foundation.
Bruce remains physically active by playing golf at the Victoria Golf Course, alpine skiing in the winter months, kayaking and fishing in Haida Gwaii and embarking on hunting trips with his two sons, Cameron and Graham.
Bruce is committed to his clients' financial well-being and appreciates their loyalty. He looks forward to maintaining these strong relationships and providing the high standards of service his clients deserve.
