Director, Portfolio Manager
Ryan French is a Director and Portfolio Manager at Odlum Brown Limited. He began his career at Odlum Brown in the spring of 1994 in Client Services and later that year joined R & S Investment Management, working alongside founders Rick Sales and Peter Robson.
Upon graduation from the University of British Columbia in 1989, Ryan spent the following two years completing his Master’s degree (MSc) at Bristol University in the UK. He also holds a Diploma of Technology from BCIT. Industry qualifications include the Canadian Securities Course (1994); Certified Investment Manager (1997); Derivatives Fundamentals (1999); Options License (1999); Professional Financial Planning (2001); and Partners, Directors and Senior Officers Qualifying Examination (2010). Ryan has more than 20 years of industry experience and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI).
Ryan grew up in North Vancouver and now resides in Vancouver with his family.
Dan Hincks, CFA
Dan joined Odlum Brown in July 2008. Prior to becoming a Portfolio Manager, Dan was an Equity Analyst covering Diversified Financials for Odlum Brown’s research department. During his eight-year tenure in the research department, Dan contributed numerous ideas to the hypothetical Odlum Brown Model Portfolio and Yield Portfolio that helped add value. He also had the pleasure of presenting at the 2015 and 2016 Odlum Brown Annual Address presentations and has written numerous articles for the Odlum Brown Report and the Odlum Brown Research Blog, Different Makes a Difference. As an analyst, Dan has also been quoted in Canada’s major financial publications.
When he’s not digging into company financial statements, Dan enjoys travelling the world off the beaten path. Past adventures have included trekking in Patagonia, camping in Northern Australia, skiing in Japan and Norway, whitewater rafting in New Zealand, hiking in Iceland and running a marathon in Chicago – and, of course, making the pilgrimage to Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting in Omaha.
Dan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Queen’s University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
Dan grew up in Calgary and currently lives with his family in Vancouver.
Investment Associate, Associate Portfolio Manager
Catherine joined Odlum Brown Limited and R & S Investment Management in 2007. After graduating from Concordia University in Montreal, Catherine moved to Vancouver and began her career at a small boutique brokerage firm in 1990. Catherine cut her teeth in the business working for both large and small brokerage firms over the years, before finding her home at Odlum Brown.
Catherine’s industry qualifications include the Canadian Securities Course (1994), Certified Investment Manager (1999), Professional Financial Planning Course (2002), Life Insurance Level 2 (2004), Derivatives Fundamentals (2008) and Options Licensing Course (2011).
In her spare time, Catherine loves reading, drawing and assisting her husband in running a fitness gym.
Deborah Campagnaro has been with Odlum Brown Limited since 1987 and with R & S Investment Management since 1988 as a fully licensed Investment Assistant. She continues to take industry-related courses to stay current with the constantly evolving investment landscape. Deborah has a diploma in Marketing Management from BCIT with an option in International Business.
Prior to Odlum Brown, Deborah worked in the sales department of a major American snack food company.
Outside of the office, Deborah enjoys travelling. Recent adventures have taken her to Cambodia, Vietnam, Turkey, Jordan, Tibet and Nepal. While Deborah has accumulated many air miles, she has also gained many miles on the road running. In fact, Deborah was one of the lucky few to quality for the 100th Boston Marathon!
Originally from St. Catharines, Ontario, Deborah lived in northern Ontario (Sudbury), northern Manitoba (Thompson) and northern BC (Kitimat) before deciding to settle in Vancouver. Today she lives in Coquitlam with her family and two old cats.
