Employee Giving

Take a few moments to read about our employees who give generously of their time and resources to make a difference in the lives of others.

Martin McNish
Portfolio Manager, Investment Advisor, Vancouver

Martin McNish has helped coach children’s community football and hockey for several years, but when he started volunteering at Camp Kerry in 2008 his involvement with children took on a whole new meaning.

Camp Kerry is a four-day weekend camping experience providing an opportunity for families dealing with the loss of a loved one to share thoughts, feelings, and memories with others who are in similar circumstances. Martin’s first time at Camp Kerry was full of new experiences. He was neither a seasoned camper nor an experienced grief counsellor; however he knew that he could make a difference to the children and their parents. Volunteering at Camp Kerry since 2008 has offered Martin a glimpse into a part of life that is difficult to prepare for and it has given him a greater sense of purpose.

“The reward for me comes from witnessing the transformation that occurs over the weekend; many families arrive from a place of intense hurt and isolation and leave with a new sense of hope.”
